Got the BP upgrade I was looking for by acquiring Kahnle. I may actually need to move another BP arm to make room but won't be in a hurry to do that (likely wait to see what the various projections look like). So other than potentially moving some of the above mentioned names for non-40 man prospects (and 2 or 3 for one is not out of the question), I'm not really looking to make further trades at this time.

Thanks Jason. Helps in the pen and to relieve some roster pressure too.

Minnesota Twins / Twins 2020 Early Outlook
« on: November 15, 2019, 11:00:00 AM »
I had certainly hoped 2019 would be a positive turning point in our level of play but really did exceed expectations with 95 wins and a WC finish. Going to be tough to improve on that but on paper feel we have a better roster over all. Here’s what the current line-up looks like (will edit with projections as they come out):

Starting Pitching
Jose Berrios
Sonny Gray
Mike Soroka
Domingo German
Mike Minor

Not really a top ace in the bunch but really a group of #2 / #3 level pitchers from 1 to 5.

Bullpen
Taylor Rogers
Chris Martin
Trevor May
Josh Taylor
Adam Morgan
Tyler Duffey
Tommy Kahnle
Yonny Chirinos

This is the area most likely to change come opening day. I don’t think they’re a bad bunch but still would like to make improvements.

Hitters

Catchers: Mitch Garver & Omar Narvaez
Like the idea of R / L platoon option

1B: Eric Hosmer & Garrett Cooper
Again will likely be a straight platoon which should provide more value (considering both or pretty bland options here).

2B: Whit Merrifield

SS: Jorge Polanco

3B: Eduardo Escobar
Assuming I can resign him. If not will consider a FA here &/or Sano playing the field more often.

OF: Max Kepler, Eddie Rosario, Aaron Hicks & Ramon Laureano
Lots of flexibility here with L vs R matchups and fielding options.

Bench: likely Jake Cronenworth along with 1 each of the C, 1B & OF

Overall I really like the depth that this group will provide and will allow me to do lots of moving around and L vs R match-ups.

4. Upgrade a RHP in the pen. I have a number of good, but perhaps not great arms and would be willing to move 2 for 1 in an upgrade. All of these guys (Chris Martin, Trevor May, Tyler Duffey, John Gant, Zack Littell, Hunter Wood) have low YOS. Would consider taking on salary but not really interested in a 1 year deal.

Right now May, Duffey & Martin are penciled into my bullpen so I'm not really interested in dealing any of them individually for anything other than a BP upgrade.

Since it's my main priority I am re-posting this and will also add a bunch of names of guys requiring 40 man protection but are on the bubble (I have room for some but not most of these). I would be quite willing to discuss any of these separately, with 2 or more together, or adding 1 or 2 with one or two of the bullpen arms named above as part of deal.

Max Schrock
Zach Green
Jorge Bonifacio
Chih-Wei Hu
Jake Faria
Josh Staumont
Matt Hall
Nick Burdi
Jake Nottingham
Drew Ellis
Brian Howard

Buxton has been dealt, so Hicks will be staying put.

Have had some nibbles on the other offerings but so far nothing finalized so let me know if you have interest.

Minnesota Twins / Twins Pre-2020 Block
« on: October 18, 2019, 03:24:58 PM »
I have 4 main topics for discussion:

1. Move Kyle Gibson (2 years at $9.717M) or perhaps Mike Minor (2 +1 years at $8.5M).
2. Move a CF: Aaron Hicks would be my 1st choice but may consider Byron Buxton in the right deal.
3. Omar Narvaez. Has 2 years at $9.7M. I certainly wouldn't mind carrying both Narvaez and Garver and I may want to wait to see what Garver's projection looks like before I pull the trigger on a deal, but with the right offer I could certainly be swayed.

For #'s 1 thru 3 I am really looking for prospects (non-40 man) and / or picks. Let me know if interested.
