Diaz Goes 5-for-5
Saturday, August 14th , 2021
Even as a kid, Yandy Diaz said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At loanDepot Park today, Diaz showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 30-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Chicago Cubs, helping his team knock off the Miami Marlins by a score of 5-1.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."

Yandy Diaz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Patrick Murphy in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

During the current season Diaz is batting at a .308 clip with 9 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 109 games and scored 69 times.
